- Marvin has more than two decades' experience as an optometrist. Marvin developed his interest in childrens’ vision at the School of Optometry at the Technikon Witwatersrand, South Africa, which was known for its focus on behavioural optometry. Marvin continued his study of children's vision at The University of Manchester.
- After migrating to Melbourne, Marvin furthered his behavioural optometry studies at The University of New South Wales. Marvin has also undertaken further development through the foundation for behavioural optometry in the United States, the OEPF.
