While I believe that liberation from these pressures is both collective and personalI also recognise that therapy exists first and foremost to meet the needs of the individual. It is completely reasonable to want to focus solely on personal experiencesrelationshipsand inner wellbeingand clients should never feel deterred or obliged to engage in broader social or systemic discussions. I am always happy to work at an individual level. At the same timeI hold an awareness of the wider systems that can shape and impact the mental health of marginalised peopleand I may gently acknowledge these where it feels relevant and helpful.
